Minette, ate Minette, as what we used to call her, even though she was my little sister, our own “ladybug”. Laughs a lot, smiles a lot. Adventurous and very outgoing.
The last time we were together was the time Ate got married last December… and I never thought it will be the last I will see of her. That short span of time that we spent together, us as a family, I’ll treasure so much. Even if we didn’t get to do things… just the mere presence of each other is enough… taking her to the airport was not as hard to let go, because we knew there will be a next time… there will be so many next times…
I was so happy when she told me she liked the picture I edited, I called it “Q Faces”, it was a black and white photo of the four of us, Ate, myself, her and Michael. She had it resized to a poster and displayed it in her apartment. I was looking forward to the day that I would see it hanging on her wall.
The short life Minette lived; she has touched us in her own little way. I will always remember her as my baby sister, that fat kid I use to carry on my lap sitting on a rattan chair, the high school kid I use to drive to school, the college girl I go to school with and watch my football games.
Life does not end with Minette’s demise, this tragedy has a purpose. To my parents, my brother Michael and my sister, Maricel, we may not have the answers as to why this has happened, we may not truly understand why, but at least Minette reminded us that we still have each other, Minette kept us together. As painful as it is, we have to accept the fact that she has left us, but her memories will always remain in our hearts, in every corner of our home, she will be there. To Minette, thank you for everything, we pray for your everlasting life.
I LOVE YOU, I MISS YOU LITTLE SIS.
